Our dear little Pug dog "Quilpie" sadly suffered full paralysis of her hind
legs at the age of 3 due to a spinal deformity. She has a personality that
is so "full of life" that euthanasia was not an option. We conducted some
internet research and came across the Doggon Wheels website that offered
wheelchairs for dogs to assist with mobility.
We weren't sure how well this device would work as we lived on 10 acres with uneven ground and different terrains but after many conversations with Pam and Ray who were a wealth of knowledge, we finally bit the bullet and ordered one. The service was very prompt, arriving from the U.S. within 10 days and containing clear instructions of how it should fit. That afternoon Quilpie had her maiden voyage and she took to it like a duck to water and now there's no stopping her. The tyres are excellent, allowing her to negotiate all terrain and her back legs are nicely supported off the ground. Hi Ray and Pam,
Hope you are both well. Major is still doing great. I intended on sending this quite a while ago and hoped if you like you could finish Major's story with the 3rd photo of him walking again. It still feels like a bit of a miracle really after remembering him first stumble around after only 4 weeks in his chair against the professional opinions that we had at the time. He's been walking and swimming now for almost 18 months getting better and better (not running though), and turns 12 in a couple of months. I thought this recent photo could help highlight the rehabilitative purpose for the doggon wheels. Hope you can put him up so he gets seen as he is now and not just in his chair. How are you both? Sorry its been awhile since I have had contact but Ruby has been using the time to get use to her new wheels !
With a few adjustments and much persistence, I reckon we have finally made head ways! Infact I now find myself telling her to "slow down"!!! Just wanted to send you that photo I promised you and Ruby wants to a big thank for helping her in her time of need! Hi Chad & Lori,Received the doggonwheel for Jack just over a week ago and he's really taken to it. He gets so excited when I bring out his wheels cos he knows he's going for a walk. Something he used to do every day and something that he has missed out on for some time. He certainly turns heads in this small country town.
